The Fellowship is the highest honour the Association confers on scholars who have advanced research on the Chinese economy.
The CEA Fellows programme recognises distinguished scholars who have made outstanding and sustained contributions to research on the Chinese economy and to the mission of the Chinese Economists Association UK/Europe. Fellows are elected by the CEA Board and represent the highest honour the Association confers on its members. The programme was established to celebrate academic excellence, foster mentorship across generations of economists, and strengthen the Association’s ties with the global community of China-focused researchers.
Following approval by the CEA UK/Europe Board, 14 distinguished scholars have been elected as the inaugural cohort of Fellows. They were officially awarded the Fellow of CEA UK/Europe on 6th August 2025, during the Annual Conference of the CEA UK/Europe held at the University of Glasgow.
Under the Constitution, Fellow membership recognises “those outstanding scholars who have made a significant contribution to research on the Chinese economy or to the affairs of the Association over an extended period”. Fellows are nominated by two existing board members, elected through a voting process and approved by the Executive Board.
